Who are Ocean Counselling Training?

Ocean have successfully been delivering  CPCAB courses and training counsellors since 2010.   Ocean offers all Levels of CPCAB courses from Level 2 to Level 6.

 

Who are CPCAB?

CPCAB are the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body, whose courses are accredited by OFQUAL.

 

Who are the BACP?

The BACP are the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  This is a body which counsellors can join as part of recognised counselling training and adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.

 

Are Counselling and Psychotherapy the same?

Counselling and psychotherapy are both talking therapies.  Counselling may offer shorter-term work, and psychotherapy may offer longer-term work.

 

What is SCoPED?

SCoPEd is a framework that sets standards for the profession.  It aims to protect clients from unsafe practice and support members’ practice.

 

If I complete a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma, which column of SCoPed will  I be in?

If you have completed a Level 4 Diploma as part of the Approved Practitioner Framework, then you will be in column A.  If you have higher relevant counselling qualifications, you may be able to be in column B or C.

 

Where do I sit my Certificate of Proficiency (COP)?

If you are a student at Ocean, you will sit the COP at Ocean.   You will be able to sit the exam when studying on the Level 4 Diploma course when you have completed 70 hours of client work.  

 

I have a degree in Psychology.

Will I automatically be able to join the L4 Diploma course in counselling?

To gain entry to the Level 4 Diploma course, you would need to undertake an interview to ascertain you previously counselling training.  Your skills as a counsellor will also need to be assessed.

 

If I do not gain my clients’ hours during my two-year diploma, what happens then?

If you are studying at Ocean under a CPCAB qualification, you automatically have one year after the end of the diploma to gain your 100 client hours.


Does Ocean provide a resource hub?

Yes. Ocean does provide a book resource hub, which you can join for a small joining fee.


Will I be working in one training room?

No. Classroom-based courses will have access to additional breakout rooms for small group class exercises.

 

How do I receive my certificate?

You can opt to have this sent via post, or you can come along to the celebration evening, which is held twice a year, to receive your certificate.

 

Does Ocean offer payment plans to help with costs?

Yes.  Ocean offer a range of payment plans to support candidates.

 

Can I take time out from my two-diploma course?

Yes.  You can defer year two for up to one year.

 

Will Ocean provide all the learning materials that I need for my course?

Yes. Ocean will provide course material to support learning.  They do not provide course textbooks.

If I complete a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma, which column of SCoPed will I be in?

If you have completed a Level 5 Diploma with Ocean, then you will be in column B.  If you have higher relevant counselling qualifications, you may be able to be in column C.
